Jean Cassegrain, grandson and president of Longchamp, was attracted by Apose, the young French brand of top-of-the-range watches founded by designer Didier Finck and physicist Ludovic Zussa.
Together they agreed that Longchamp would provide Apose with offcuts of its superb leathers to transform into straps for a forthcoming 100% French Apose model.
The trust shown by Longchamp, Apose’s prestigious and inspirational parent, prompted the designers to create an original bracelet model that required specific industrial development by the renowned leather goods manufacturer Créations Perrin.
The first Longchamp leather strap that we will manufacture is cut from a magnificent grained skin in an intense blue called Minuit,” explains watchmaker Romain Thiriet, who joined Apose in 2021.
The subtlety and density of the colour proposed by Longchamp immediately convinced us. For us, this magical blue is a further sign of our francité.
The washed leather is of very high quality. The delicate patina that time will give it will add to the elegance of the watch, and we can’t wait to discover it.
The accepted prototypes reveal the French style of Apose, passionate about innovation, obsessed with the quest for excellence and the relentless search for that one step further that surprises and seduces.
The bracelet created by Apose, inspired by the Nato models, is made from a single leather strap 300 mm long and 20 mm wide, lined on the inside with very fine black calf leather.
The fixed and mobile straps have been specially designed to underline the watch’s sober elegance.
Even the way the watch is worn on the wrist has been designed to ensure an elegant gesture.
This first partnership commits Apose to developing a complete collection of leather straps in the Longchamp colour palette.
These straps will be offered as an option on all the brand’s models.
